With InSoul Sessions Vol 1 UK label Inspirit Music presents some of the best current deep house tunes. Andy Caldwell creates a dreamy sexy atmosphere with recent Inspirit Music releases and his own selections.

Andy Caldwell is a San Franciscan local and a hard worker being a member of the group Soulstice, a club DJ and a music producer. He recently visited Sydney, DJing at The Globe and Sounds on Sunday. His single “I Can’t Wait” made the Aria DJ Top 20. Andy works closely with both Inspirit Music and the legendary Om Records.

InSoul Sessions Vol 1 is comprised of deep house tracks that all feature vocals and largely electronic instrumentation. Six of the twelve tracks on the album were composed and/or remixed by Andy himself. This release does well to inform the listener on the background of each track as each page features a short bio of the artist(s).

Standout tracks on this compilation include Andy’s Face Of Love remixed by The Beard. This nice dreamy track features the smooth soothing voice of Blackalicious’ singer Omega. Marques Wyatt’s For Those Who Like To Get Down has a dance floor vibe with its infectious movement and cheeky lyrics.

Well placed in the mix is Andy’s remix of Soul Sista’s Musication which includes an inspiring sax solo. Kaskade’s Be There follows with its funky bassline, earthy bongos, and tripped-out vocals which are heavy on the reverb.

Live Your Life is a collaboration between Andy and Montreal’s Fred Everything and features Gina Rene from Soulstice. A nice track with a lazy drift away quality, it is infused with a distorted electronica sample that adds a more complex texture. Andy’s remix of Frank Boissy’s La Baise de Rio has personality with its funky cyber bassline and spacey French vocals.

Kaskade’s reworking of Amma’s Heartbeat has Amma singing a wordier track with her sweet voice. It has a more traditional song structure with a clear verse and chorus and has an inherent uplifting quality.

Overall Andy has put together a well balanced blend of groovy deep house tracks. While there is nothing groundbreaking here, this is a compilation well suited to creating relaxing positive atmosphere to croon along with.
