What do you do with a classic Underworld tune when you release it as a single ?

That’s the question that I was asking as I pushed ‘play’. This single features four tracks and a film clip for PC.

There’s the “Radio Edit” of the tune we all know so well.

“Everything Everything”
“An eraser of love”
etc.

Pure, crazy, manic bliss.

The mixes are courtesy of Bedrock and JBO labelmate Futureshock, and I was eagerly anticipating their takes on the tune.

The Bedrock mix features an introdction that is very, well, Bedrock. Classic Digweed and Muir stuff. But apart from the intro and outro it really does nothing more than pay homage to the original.

Futureshock’s effort is essentially the same as well. Own intro – Cowgirl – Own outro. There really isn’t much you can do to an anthem of this kind without ruining it.

The last audio track is “Rez/Cowgirl” – the live mix that can also be found on “Everything Everything”, aka Underworld’s ‘live’ album.

As for the video clip, well that is classic Underworld quickly-flashing images and text. It’s just like the visual screen they use at their live shows, but on your PC desktop, and with a cumbersome interface (little too minimalistic for my liking).

As a single, I don’t think you could have expected any more. The mixes aren’t too far from their mother, but that only highlights what a triumph the (then) Underworld three were – and still are as a dominant duo.
