Sharam of Deep Dish & Laurent Garnier for Playground Weekender
Tue 26th Dec, 2006 Newsin
Sharam of Deep Dish and Laurent Garnier will be joined by a massive lineup that also includes Mr Scruff, Tom Middleton, Who Made Who and a whole heap of others for what is set to be one of the most exciting new music festivals to take place next year. Billed as a music and camping festival in the spirit of revered international events like Glastonbury, Bestival and the Big Chill, the Playground Weekender is taking place on the 9th, 10th and 11th of March in a countryside location one and a half hours from Sydney.
The venue is surrounded by hills, trees, riverbanks and has never before been used for a music event. Giving punters the chance to pack up their tents, leave the city and head to the country for an eclectic mix of sounds over three days, the organisers are billing the Playground Weekender as a ‘boutique’ festival with all the quirky asides that go with it. There will be four stages of music, an outdoor cinema, cabaret acts, cocktail bars, a healing area, food and market stalls and a host of other surprises.
All the necessary facilities are promised for those who want to camp out over the three days, but for others with an aversion to pitching a tent there are a range of other accommodation options from riverside cabins, houseboats, campervans, yurts, tipis as well as the Playground Tent Hotel.
Early bird weekend tickets to the Playground Weekender are $134 all inclusive and can be purchase from inthemix HERE. Early bird weekend tickets + camping are $174 all inclusive and can be purchased HERE.
