After two years Jebediah are set to triumphantly make their return. As O’Ball 2008 headliners, they join The Cops, British India and local up and comers City Riots and Tyger Tyger in the indie-rock corner. Then on the hip hop side of things there’s Koolism, Mind Over Matter, DJ Staen 1 (3-times Australian DMC Champion – 2003, 2004 & 2005) and DJ Perplex (Current two-time Australian DMC Champion – 2006 & 2007).
Student life isn’t all lectures, textbooks and exams. At the beginning of each new year The Adelaide University Union gives students a chance to really let their hair down. Short for “Orientation Ball”, O’Ball is an annual music festival that kicks off the university year with a bang. O’Ball has been running strong and it has become a solid fixture in the university calendar. With over 2,500 attendees each year, O’Ball is South Australia’s premier university student event.
In 2008 O’Ball is set to be bigger and better than ever! Some of our finest national and local talent will rock The Cloisters while The Barr Smith Lawns Chill Out Area will provide an escape from the main stage. The line up consists of a diverse range of acts covering an assortment of musical genres from indie-rock, punk and hip hop, comprising a total of almost ten hours of live entertainment. Running from 2:30pm to midnight, O’Ball is a licensed all ages event.
After a twenty-six month open-ended hiatus, iconic alternative rock band Jebediah return to headline O’Ball 2008. The Cops, British India and local favourites City Riots and Tyger Tyger complete the indie-rock line up while Australian hip hop powerhouse Koolism and Mind Over Matter plus world-renowned deejays DJ Staen 1 (3 X Australian DMC Champion – 2003, 2004 & 2005) and DJ Perplex (Current 2 X Australian DMC Champion – 2006 & 2007) provide the hip hop element. Childhood hero Peter Combe will be performing with a band while an emcee battle sponsored by Nurcha Records will also take place on The Cloisters main stage.
Other entertainment includes a live graffiti art by Adelaide’s best painters, food and market stalls, a huge merchandise stand and plenty of other amusements to be confirmed to keep you entertained all throughout the day. With an Apple iPod door prize for the lucky raffle ticket holder before 4pm and happy hours right through the day (3-4pm & 7-8pm), be sure to get in early!
