ITM got on the phone with the world’s #1 DJ Armin van Buuren this week, where he revealed that he’s hoping to bring his legendary ‘Armin Only’ parties back to Australia in 2010. “I’m working on my new album as we speak,” he told ITM, “and if that goes well then I hope to release in time for a tour next year. If not, then maybe the year after. But Australia is definitely on the very, very short list.”
The world’s #1 DJ was chatting to ITM about his upcoming Australian tour, which will see him returning for the third year in a row to play the action-packed June long weekend. As we already know, it’ll be in a different context to his last two headline tours, as this time around he’ll instead be part of a string of festivals that includes We Love Sounds in Sydney and Adelaide, the debut of Winter Sound System in Melbourne, as well as intimate club shows in Brisbane and Perth.
“It does take off the pressure a little bit,” Armin told ITM. “I like to do different things all the time. Last year I brought the big ‘Armin Only’ show, and this year I’m part of more of a festival lineup. Next year maybe I’ll bring the big show back again.” Armin then indulged his well-known love of throwing out cheesy (but endearing) metaphors and turns of phrase to explain the situation. “You don’t wanna eat steak everyday. You wanna eat fish the other day, and then maybe a hamburger the other day. Then you wanna eat vegetarian, and Italian, stuff like that.”
Check below for the full list of Armin’s national dates, and stay tuned for ITM’s full length interview as the June Long Weekend draws near…
