Empire of the Sun's total eclipse of the brain

If you’ve been feeling a little astrologically all over the place recently, it could have something to do with the fact that the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century is due this Wednesday afternoon. And wouldn’t you know it, but our favourite ethereal drama queens Empire of the Sun are living up to their name and seeking to mark the occasion in style, with an “exclusive online broadcast” of a performance from the group. Or something.
Get yourself over to www.eclipseofthesun.org if you want to be a part of it. The eclipse is set for 1pm AEST on this Wendesday July 22nd and will be for a massive 6 minutes and 39 seconds, taking place throughout the Asia Pacific region but visible only in Australia from the very tip of far North Queensland.
We’re unsure what Empire of the Sun mean when they promise us a “PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN ONLINE BROADCAST”, but it will probably be a great chance to sneak a glimpse of the group in a live setting before they hit the stage for their widely-anticipated debut on the Parklife tour later this year.
Empire of the Sun have been all over the music news lately, for both all the right reasons and all the wrong reasons. Accordingly, ITM can only imagine the type of grandiose peacock dramatics we’ll be treated to, but we get the feeling we’ll end up adoring every minute of the performance. It’ll totally make it worthwhile staying inside and sitting on your computer, and missing the actual eclipse!
Stay tuned for more Empire of the Sun silliness in the leadup to Parklife tour, proudly presented by ITM! Keep your eyes peeled to our Festival Page at inthemix.com.au/parklife and check out the national tour dates below…
