Calvin Harris goes on a Twitter tirade

From our outsider’s perspective, being Calvin Harris has got to be pretty good. Seriously, the chap is riding a huge wave of buzz for his new album, Ready For The Weekend, which just dropped in stores and he just created an unbelievably awesome human synthesizer! But despite all these glowing achievements, all is not well in the world of Calvin Harris.

On the eve of Ready For The Weekend’s public unveiling, Harris was struck by a particularly negative review and, like any rational thinking person, took to his Twitter account to vent. ALL CAPS ranting ensued.

“THIS ENTIRE INDUSTRY IS FULL OF RICH PEOPLES KIDS, EVERYWHERE, FUCKING RICH PEOPLES KIDS RICH PEOPLES KIDS,” the UK superstar began. “RICH PEOPLES KIDS GETTING GOOD REVIEWS BECAUSE MUMMY FUCKED THE JOURNO IN THE 80S. FUCK YOU RICH PEOPLE YOU WILL NOT BREAK ME I DON’T GIVE A FUCK I HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE YOU ARE ONLY RICH PEOPLE…RICH PEOPLE MEAN FUCK ALL TO ME SERIOUSLY. I’M MAKING MUSIC FOR REAL PEOPLE AND REAL PEOPLE DANCE – RICH PEOPLE STAND AT THE BACK,” he wrote before mercifully turning off his caps lock key.

The producer went on to elaborate on the reasons behind his outrage, explaining that he was particularly hurt by the un-named review. “Imagine you just spent 2 years of your life making a record. on your own. every single day, long hours, working to get it sounding right… imagine the buzz of making something that you love, and after 2 years you finally have something you can’t wait for other people to hear…then imagine that cd landing on the desk of “snide rich persons kid” or “pathetic london scene-FACE”…then them skipping through the tracks in their lunch break, and saying ‘well its calvin harris isn’t it? 2 stars, he’s a dick head’,” he exclaimed. “And i can’t ignore it, sorry, but it does affect me, + it is hurtful, + i know that it’s exactly what i wanted it to be, and i’m proud of it.”

Thankfully, Harris quickly stepped down from his digital ledge and seems to be basking in some impressive weekend sales for Ready For The Weekend. We’re digging it so far too, definitely more than a 2 Star record…

Dude needs to lay off the smackos. Why get so worked up over one person's opinion? If every critic slammed him and gave him 1-2 stars then maybe I could understand his rant.

he should just make a song about the reviewer, tearing him to pieces... it worked for Tim Minchin! ...but then he got sued, so i guess it didnt really work...

Have a read of the article that allegedly triggered the meltdown. Quite well written and pretty funny to be fair: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/aug/07/calvin-harris-cd-review

This line for the review is so awesome... "BodyRockers' effortlessly moronic single I Like the Way (You Move), a record that could have no better captured the hideous atmosphere of a provincial town centre at 3am on a Sunday if it had actually featured
