One of the global house scene’s hottest emerging names, Britain’s Jamie Jones, is on his way down under this November and December. Having burst out in 2006 with his absolutely wicked Amazon EP on phat French imprint Freak ‘n’ Chic, Jones has since released some bumpers on labels including Cocoon, Steve Bug’s Poker Flat Recordings, Get Digital (the sister label of Berlin’s powerhouse Get Physical imprint), BPitch Control and several cuts on Crosstown Rebels, on which his debut album Don’t You Remember The Future? has just dropped to great acclaim.
Full of moody, dark and driving house, Jones’ debut LP is absolutely fantastic, blending elements of minimal, techno and deep house to excellent effect. Worldwide anthem Summertime featuring Norwegian duo Ost & Kjex takes pride of place, and Jones told ITM that the track itself, which took last year’s Miami Winter Music Conference by storm and is still being hammered worldwide, was a few years in the making.
“I had a few tracks [that appeared on the album] which I just held back,” he says, “some ideas and stuff I didn’t feel were right for singles but I sort of worked at them and they ended up being some of the strongest tracks.
Jamie Jones’ Don’t You Remember the Future? is out now through Stomp, check him out on his first trip downunder:
