Origin lineup continues to grow

Image for Origin lineup continues to grow

If you thought the already massive Origin New Years Eve lineup couldn’t get any bigger, think again as there’s been with two big DJ names added to the festivities. Joining Method Man and Redman at Steel Blue Oval will be a couple of pop-rock stars who have traded in their guitars for turntables.

Hot off the heels of his well receieved live sets on the Good Vibrations tour last summer, Sam Sparro returns to show us what his mixing skills are like. Having been remixed by heavy hitters such as DJ Mehdi, Phones and Russ Chimes, it will be interesting to see what sort of direction the popster’s tunes take.

The other addition is a Bloc Party DJ set, though it’s not clear yet what band members are venturing down for the tour. Drummer Matt Tong is known to be capable behind the decks as is frontman Kele Okereke, though with recent rumours abound of a possible Bloc Party split and Okereke recording a solo album with Hudson Mohawke and Spank Rock, anything could happen. Guess we’ll have to wait for the evening to see!
