For lovers of slick Swedish dance pop, this is probably the best news you’ll hear all day. Undisputed queen of the aforementioned niche, Robyn has announced that she’ll be putting a whopping three whole albums this year.
As revealed by the celebrated singer herself in a recent interview with Swedish publication Bon (and transcribed by the good folk at Pitchfork), Robyn has been hard at work since her self-titled breakthrough effort from 2005 – which was released in Australia by Modular – amassing enough material for three records.
According to the interview, the tracks have been spit-polished with the help of famous friends like Diplo, Kleerup and Royksopp on production duties, whilst gnarly rap legend Snoop Dogg pops in for a ‘rap-duel’. Colour us excited.
What with us the calendar already ticking over to March, one would think Robyn would want to get her butt into gear if she’s going to release all three new albums before the year’s out, so expect to hear the fruits of her labours soon.
While we wait for Robyn’s goodies to be revealed, check out the singer’s last hook up with Royksopp on their track, The Girl And The Robot, below.
