Faithless; they’re the act that the Australian dance music scene just can’t get over, already taking out dual #1 spots on ITM’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2010 and Most Wanted Tours for 2010. Whilst we know at last the first part of that wish is coming to life in May this year when Faithless release their sixthalbum, The Dance, but as yet there’s been no indication of when Australian punters would get the Faithless experience in the flesh for a national tour. That is until now, of course.
Grabbing some talk time with the UK legends bright and early this morning, inthemix quizzed Faithless’ Sister Bliss about their upcoming tour plans, asking whether a stop-over in Australia was on the cards in the next year.
“I’m not sure if it’s going to be this year, but it will definitely be in the year of our touring cycle, and that starts next week,” Sister Bliss revealed. “It’s looking like that will mean we’ll get over there in early 2011but we’re still figuring out what festival it will be for and what gigs we’ll play at this stage.”
As it turns out though, an Australian visit by the British dance music masters almost came to pass over the ’09/’10 summer, before the band put the kibosh on things to complete recordings for The Dance.
“Some promoters were trying to get us out there in January this year and it was something we would’ve loved to have done, but we were just having too much making music and working on the album, so unfortunately we had to push it back a year!” Sister Bliss added, “In a way it’s good because by the time we get there people will know the album and be ready for it live, and that’s exciting. But really, it would be criminal not to come and play over January or February because that’s the summer and we love it.”
And there we have it. The wheels are in motion to at last get the Faithless crew back to Australia, and we couldn’t be happier. Although we’ll have to hold out until the agonisingly-distant summer season we can assure you that it will be worth the wait.
