‘We No Speak Americano’ gets the cheese treatment on German TV

Is it just us or do strange things happen to good music on television? First there was Goldfrapp self-harming with some weird lip-syncing on European TV swiftly followed by Australia’s own off-the-wall Kraftwerk fan. Now we’ve got another example of things turning a little strange with a video from a German program messing with Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s We No Speak Americano after the tune went to #1 across Europe.

The video which you can marvel at below comes from the musical variety show The Dome which according to some base internet sleuthing is apparently recorded “roughly every three months” in cities across Germany and Austria with local and international acts performing material to crowds of “5,000 to 15,000 people”.

That’s all peaches and cream until you remember that this is the same nation that propped up David Hasselhoff’s singing career so something was always going to be a little off and indeed in the ‘performance’ of We No Speak Americano things get particularly strange.

Check out the video below to take it all in but basically there’s a band of actors – we’re pretty sure none of them are either Yolanda Be Cool or DCUP – hamming it up for the bafflingly massive crowd of ecstatic krauts to one hell of a playback track.

So weird... but I'm still in love with the host. Germany FTW!

This is something some shitty Australian promoters would come up with to sell tickets.

Its just so different and innovate, wait for it to start happening at a club near you. Give it about 5 years though, that's how far Australia is behind Europe

Although it is rather lame, I must say - they do mime better than a lot of the big pop stars around.

Shite song no matter who's performing it.

I'd say that is equally as weird as Justice on Jimmy Kimmel. But at least they definitely made an appearance for that.
