The 20 ‘hottest’ producers in music…according to NME, that is

As well as pictures of cats having lols and animated gifs, the internet was practically invented for every man and their blog to roll out arbitrary lists counting down the best, worst, smokingest, fugliest ____’s of ____. While ITM is no stranger to a good ol’ list – hey, what are these? Oh, they’re lists and stuff! – those dudes over at NME have perhaps taken things a bit far with their latest list, piling together their picks for the ’20 Hottest Producers In Music Right Now.

Up now on NME.com, the producer list covers a lot of ground while never actually outlining what makes one ‘hot’ or their definition of a producer – with beatmakers for hire mixing with solo production artists on the list.

While there’s a few head-scratching moments on the list like seating Lady Gaga and Sugababes hitmaker RedOne alongside Friendly Fires and The Rapture helmer Paul Epworth and recent Klaxons producer Ross Robinson, there are some good picks on the list including Portishead mastermind Geoff Barrow, clubbing chameleon Stuart Price and a top 2 double bill of Andrew Weatherall and James Ford from Simian Mobile Disco.

Check out the full-list below and let us know your personal producer picks in the comments section!

being an indie rag, NME's not going to have a list overflowing with many well known names from the dance world.. nice to see Jamie Smith there - his solo stuff is sounding pretty good, and the xx had an amazing debut album
