There’s no doubt that horrific floods in Queensland and the effect on local residents have affected all corners of the country and the displays of support in the wake of the disaster has been nothing short of incredible.
The club community has been doing its part to help the recovery up north as well, with Grant Smillie’s 360 Agency last week announcing a bash in Melbourne to raise funds for victims of the flood under the banner of Dance Aid. That idea was well received by clubbers in the garden state and has since ballooned into a national Dance Aid tour, with Smillie and co. taking in a bunch of dates around the country to gather good will and throw some parties for a good cause.
After kicking off in Perth on Friday night the Dance Aid tour will spend the next two weeks on the road taking in Melbourne, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Adelaide, Darwin, Bendigo and Hobart with 100% of the proceeds from the tour going to flood ravaged Queenslanders.
As well as the tour the Dance Aid crew will put out a digital only compilation of tunes to benefit the cause this Friday January 21st. The pack features locals and international heavy hitters alike including Axwell, David Guetta, Nervo, Dirty South and TV Rock and will be on sale for a limited time only.
“One of the best things about music in a digital age is that we can quickly generate funds by turning around a mix compilation inside a week! We have some amazing Dance Aid events nationally but we can’t be everywhere,” Smillie said. “So we asked some of our very talented friends to donate a track for an iTunes exclusive 6 week release with all record company and artist sound recording profits to be donated to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Fund. The response was phenomenal from a local and international perspective, we think it’s a great CD full of some of Australia’s best dance artists and some our close friends from overseas. Turn it up loud and do your bit for the people affected by this natural disaster.”
