Paul Kalkbrenner tour confirmed for March

It has been a long wait, but at last German maestro Paul Kalkbrenner has Australia in his sights. The celebrated producer will play live at a pair of club shows in March, which includes The Likes Of You in Melbourne with hard-touring tech-housers Audiofly.
Just why has Kalkbrenner been on the top of so many tour wish-lists? For a good ten years, his releases on Ellen Allien’s influential BPitch Control label revealed his standout talent, but it wasn’t until the Berlin Calling film and its soundtrack that his reputation went stratospheric. Its success sent Kalkbrenner around Europe on a large-scale tour in 2010, a watershed year that’s captured in his live DVD (see the trailer below), and 2011 looks to continue that rise with a slot on the first lineup of Melt! Festival.
Given how in-demand he is on festival mainstages in the Northern Hemipshere, it’s perhaps not surprising Kalkbrenner hasn’t found time for us. Well, your patience has paid off – expect these shows to heave.
