Splendour In The Grass 2011 line-up announced!

Image for Splendour In The Grass 2011 line-up announced!

As anyone who went will gladly tell you, Splendour In The Grass was amazing in 2010. Uprooting from its Belongil Fields stomping ground and heading across the border to Woodfordia, the festival delivered one of its strongest line-ups to date, including a wondrous dance contingent in The Mix-Up tent. So, how have they topped it in 2011?

Well, we wish we could tell you right away. However the organisers behind the festival are keeping their cards startlingly close to their chests this year, allowing only triple j to announce the line-up first off. The radio station is taking their sweet time though, announcing artists on the bill one by one this morning so we’ll be continuously updating this story as they reveal each new act.

You can check out who is on the list thus far below, as well as the bands which have leaked their appearances themselves. There’s also our rumour mill if you’re up for some predictive work.

UPDATE: The wait is over, the full line-up is now here! And it’s quite the doozy! As well as Kanye West as one of the major festival headliners, there’s a bunch of dance goodies on the bill including Splendour veteran DJ Shadow, Friendly Fires, Yelle, Pnau and this year’s hottest property James Blake. It’s not quite as meaty as last year, but we’re still very impressed!

MitchhctiM said on the 12th Apr, 2011

Surprised at the lack of dance acts. Mix up headliners look to be Shadow, PNAU and Cut Copy? Weak..

Bracko said on the 12th Apr, 2011

aguilare said on the 12th Apr, 2011

PhatD said on the 13th Apr, 2011

so.... much... aussie... hiphop...

Lachaa said on the 13th Apr, 2011

Do they mean mogwai or moguai.

daverh said on the 13th Apr, 2011

They mean Mogwai, the post rock dudes.

The good thing about this is that it has to mean Royksopp for Parklife.

shaway said on the 13th Apr, 2011

yea royksopp will be at parklife, kanye would be getting paid BIG bucks for this exclusive show, would like to see who he brings with him

daverh said on the 13th Apr, 2011

BIG bucks. Rumour has him back here before the year's out however. Would think he'd bring a few GOOD artists with him like Pusha T and Cyhi da Prince.

dn-ul said on the 13th Apr, 2011

im usually a fan boi when it comes to these line ups, but this year = meh.
as good as kanye is, his not known for being a good live.

JackT said on the 13th Apr, 2011

The mind boggles at the cost of Kanye. I'd like to see him do a n-frills festival show without all the stupid robots etc he had at Good Vibrations. This will be an all-time set!

Dr Bones

Dr Bones said on the 13th Apr, 2011

I'd love to see Kanye never go near a microphone ever again.

Weinertron said on the 13th Apr, 2011

I'm a lyrical genius. I'm the voice of a generation.

I can't believe that gay fish is playing. Aside from Pulp, Shadow and Theivery Corp, not much redeeming this festival. Seems to be suffering from the dreaded RLUS (recycled line-up syndrome)

PussehsWife said on the 13th Apr, 2011

OMG OMG WALLAH HABBIBI THIS LINE U IS YELLAH EMSHI KASEMEK! stick some homos in your muzza .. if your a muzza and you know it wipe your ass

DJ DUKE DOOM said on the 13th Apr, 2011

lol, this is going to lose sooooo much money.

PhatD said on the 13th Apr, 2011

at $525 for a camping ticket - I doubt they will lose any money. Especially if it sells out like it always does.

daverh said on the 13th Apr, 2011

Yeah, they won't lose a cent. Splendour is a giant.

elryo said on the 13th Apr, 2011

what's with all the kanye hate? MBDTF was fucking gold. Much rather see him at a side show but, him along with shadow

Dr Bones

Dr Bones said on the 13th Apr, 2011

Overrated IMO, like most of what he's lent his voice to.

I just think he should be supporting Shadow, not t'other way round.

aaroncarter said on the 13th Apr, 2011

im a massive kanye fan... yes he is a douche but his music is like no others.. champion in my books... im hearing he and coldpaly are "exclusive" to splendour. Is this true?... or is this a no side shows until it sells out kind of thing

daverh said on the 13th Apr, 2011

Kanye will be exclusive to Splendour which blows a bit. Slim chance of a 'win tix' secret show, but I doubt it.

thEDoCtor said on the 13th Apr, 2011

So no sideshow for Kanye, who do we blame for that? the promotors??

rubbishtalk said on the 13th Apr, 2011

James Blake! Woohooo!
But got to agree that that the line up is really poor compared to last year. Electronic/dance side is really weak...
And the rest of the line up is old hat... where's all the fresh breaking stuff they had last year?
But will no doubt sell out with Coldplay and Kanye...

rocitlikeitshot said on the 13th Apr, 2011

james blake wooooo throw in a sydney side show pretty pretty please mister splendour...if there were way more emerging acts on the line-up and i might have been persuaded to fork out on 400buck plus $$travel$$food$$booze$$(and$the$ rest) but its not really blowing me away with brand new fresh :)

TheOneandOnly said on the 14th Apr, 2011

At least there are a few good rock acts worth seeing in this day and age of commercialized American garbage. I'd go to see Jebediah, The Vines, The Living End, Eskimo Joe, The Hives and Coldplay but I don't think I could stand to listen to Kayne West lol

juju3005 said on the 14th Apr, 2011

I for one love the lineup. I do enjoy my rock acts along with my dance though...

Eastside said on the 20th Apr, 2011

Kayne, The Hives, DJ Shadow......so there!
