Bumper line-up for New York’s Electric Zoo Festival
Thu 5th May, 2011 Newsin
Having added a third day in 2011, New York’s dance music weekender Electric Zoo Festival is building its biggest line-up yet. The party happens across the Labour Day weekend (that’s Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September) on Randall’s Island Park, a unique venue that allows punters to admire the Manhattan skyline from the dancefloor.
Last month Electric Zoo announced its trio of 2011 headliners: Tiesto on Friday, David Guetta on Saturday and Armin van Buuren on Sunday. Having gone all out on the three biggest DJs around, it’s good to see the festival kept some budget for the rest of the line-up, which was announced today.
The mainstage drawcards reflect dance music’s mixed bag, with the bass worship of Rusko alongside trance kingpins Above & Beyond and Sander van Doorn and the stadium-sized anthems of Benny Benassi and Afrojack.
The other stages cater for a range of tastes, with Richie Hawtin staging his celebrated Plastikman live show at the Hilltop Arena, hometown hero Danny Tenaglia in the Sunday School Grove, and Creamfields Australia buddies Skrillex, Gabriel & Dresden and Martin Solveig amongst the Red Bull Music Academy players. Another sell-out seems certain, so if you’re journeying to New York in September, best to secure your ticket sharp-ish.
