Free Mayer Hawthorne EP of covers
Thu 12th May, 2011 in News 304 views
As anyone who’s attended one of his shows with live band The County will attest, Detroit singer Mayer Hawthorne is partial to including a cover or four in his sets, previously wrapping his blue-eyed soul croon around tunes from acts like Snoop Dogg, Empire Of The Sun and even The Doobie Brothers. As if to prove just how much he loves other peoples’ music, Mayer has dropped an EP of cover versions online as a freebie for fans.
Entitled Impressions, the covers set finds the Stones Throw singer in a typically smooth mood, laying down some cruising covers of tracks by Electric Light Orchestra, The Isley Brothers and a slow-mo take on Chromeo’s Don’t Turn The Lights On.
You can read up on the collection over at Rolling Stone or just cut to the chase and grab the download below. Mayer will next appear as a guest vocalist on SebastiAn’s Ed Banger debut LP, out at the end of May.
