While the majority of Australian dance fans are stuck waiting for the appearance of Parklife and Splendour sideshows later in the year, Sydney is currently playing host to a mid-year festival with plenty of electronic love on it with the Modular programmed Vivid LIVE event series taking over the esteemed Sydney Opera House.
The Vivid season was officially launched last Friday night with the help of local and international stars alike including Bag Raiders, Beni, Azari & III and The Crystal Ark before Van She, Flight Facilities and recent Modular signings Sneaky Sound System dropped in too. The weekend culminated in a thrilling Sunday night performance by Cut Copy in the main concert hall complete with tribal drummers, backing choir and a sax-solo from the rafters. The old Opera House has never seen so many oversized singlets in its life.
ITM had a flurry of trusty contributors out and about to cover some the action from the neon-lit Opera House and you can check out the coverage in the galleries below.
For those not in Sydney, never fear, the action is due to fan out across the country with sideshows already booked for festival draws like 2manyDJs [sideshow info], Azari & III [sideshow info], and US rap terror-squad Odd Future [sideshow info].
