Amon Tobin creates massive, acid-inspired live show

Image for Amon Tobin creates massive, acid-inspired live show

Over the past couple of years we’ve seen something of a boom in the transformation of traditional EDM and DJ performances into big, multi-faceted shows often involving monolithic structures like Daft Punk’s pyramid, Etienne de Crecy’s ‘The Cube’ and more recently The Shadowsphere from DJ Shadow and whatever the hell it is that Eric Prydz uses in his live show.

While all of this ‘live’ show one-upmanship going on you’d be forgiven for getting a little over the almost weekly announcement of a new player in the ranks. But looking at Amon Tobin’s spectacular new setup might just change your mind.

As picked up by Exclaim!, the Brazilian beatmaker has produced (with the help of many embarrassingly talented designers, mind) a towering new setup to be used on the live tour for his latest opus ISAM.

With Tobin and his gear nestled in the centre of the structure, the building block setup features some wild visuals and seriously impressive effects that are best seen rather than spoken of. With that in mind, check out some footage of the thing in action below. This looks crazy good.
