RIP Tillmann Uhrmacher

As a producer of genre-bending trance tunes which instantly impacted dancefloors and infiltrated mainstream consciousness, and also as a mainstay of dance music radio programs in Germany – notably with Sunshine Live for the last decade – Tillmann Uhrmacher secured his legacy as an influential figure on the international dance landscape.

Today though it has been confirmed that the German DJ and producer responsible for tunes such as On The Run and Bassfly has died at the age of 44.

While details on Uhrmacher’s death are unfortunately unclear at this stage – and most news reports written in German – a statement from the host network of the Sunshine Live show confirmed the sad news.

“We were informed this morning by his mother and sister that [Tillmann Uhrmacher] was found dead in his apartment,” Jürgen Wiesbeck’s release read.

Already tributes from the greater trance community have emerged with artists such as Above & Beyond, Sied van Riel and Markus Schulz tweeting about the producer’s death.

“Just heard about Tillmann,” John O’Callaghan wrote. “Can’t believe it. Was just speaking to him a few months ago. Still play On The Run. Rest in peace maestro.”
