The balmy days of summer may seem far away at the moment, but it looks like the New Years festival period is already filling out. In a news update this morning, the people behind Falls Festival revealed a cluster of new names for this year’s festivals in Victoria and Tasmania.

Among the acts were electronic tearaways Crystal Castles, whose live show is always guaranteed to be incendiary. “The Castles didn’t bother with between-song banter, nor with long intros nor slow jams; the stage set-up and light-show was minimal, the set-list brutally efficient and satisfying,” wrote our reviewer of their Sydney show back in January.

Also flying down under is DJ Yoda, who’ll present his ‘Wonderful World of DJ Yoda’ show, taking “audiences on a trip from underground rap to TV themes, nursery rhymes, country, soul, reggae, drum and bass, ‘80s pop and back again.”

Other likely additions to the festival circuit are experimental trio Battles and English electro pop act Metronomy, as both recently made statements suggesting that they’ll be in Australia for New Years.
