Mixmag crown The Prodigy 'The Greatest Dance Act of all Time'
Thu 19th Jan, 2012 Newsin
As DJ Mag learnt all too well last year when David Guetta was controversially named the #1 DJ in the world, using a publically voted poll to determine anything music-related can be a contentious business indeed.
The latest magazine to bravely attempt to name the best of dance music is long-running British publication Mixmag, who’ve today announced the results of their poll searching for the ‘Greatest Dance Act of all Time’. After a solid few months of nominations and collecting public votes worldwide, electronic pioneers The Prodigy have emerged in the number one spot.
Closely behind them in the number two position was Daft Punk, with The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and even Deadmau5 all cracking the top 10. Conspicuously absent from the list, however, are the likes of Aphex Twin and Burial.
Of their victory, The Prodigy’s Keith Flint commented “To walk off a stage and feel like we smashed it – that’s the reward for us, to see the crowd react and know we’ve done what we’ve come to do. But something like this is truly voted for by the people – and essentially we are nothing without them, so it feels awesome and really respectful.”
