The return of Jacques Lu Cont

British studio whiz Stuart Price is a man of many monikers, among them Thin White Duke, Les Rythmes Digitales and Zoot Woman with Adam and Johnny Blake. If you cast your mind back to the early part of the 2000s, though, it was the Jacques Lu Cont alias that really seized on the dance music zeitgeist. As Jacques Lu Cont, Price delivered one of the enduring volumes in the FabricLive catalogue and toured here in 2005 before ‘electroclash’ lost its sheen.
Despite the cache of the name, Jacques Lu Cont was never Price’s most prolific avenue, but now the faux-Frenchman is back in a big way. At the tail-end of 2011, Reload surfaced with a mission to get its creator back on sweaty dancefloors the world over, and it’s been followed this month by tidy banger Church.
The Jacques Lu Cont brand was eased back into the limelight as support for the Swedish House Mafia at New York’s Madison Square Garden last December and a guest spot alongside Erol Alkan and Alex Metric at Manchester’s Warehouse Project. Next stop: Coachella 2012. Expect to hear a lot more from the returning hero this year.
