Nero and Justice score high in the 'next' Hottest 100

It’s safe to say that triple j’s Hottest 100 generally yields some pretty divisive results, with dance music experiencing varying degrees of success year-to-year. This time around, Skrillex was unsurprisingly dance music’s big hitter, cracking the list three times. High-brow bass from James Blake and SBTRKT also made appearances, and Nero, Calvin Harris and M83 each got all the way to the top 20.

But if you were wondering what acts narrowly missed out on the official 100, triple j have just released a list of the tracks that came number 101-200. Dance music’s biggest winners in the warm 101-200 were Nero and Justice, each with three tracks, while Example and Friendly Fires were the closest to cracking the top 100, sitting at number 108 and 105 respectively.

On the local front, The Aston Shuffle graced the list twice, with Cut Copy, Art vs Science and Architecture in Helsinki all making added appearances. All up, the next-Hottest 100 included 12 dance artists and another 20 dance tracks. Not too shabby!

Neros version of Crush On You coming in at 130 is probably the low point of 2011

City & Colour - Grand Optimist at 107 hurts the most.

If you like 'Crush on You', then you're just as likely to love to original Aaron Carter song.
