With dance music breaking more ground in America every day, the cross-genre collaborations are coming in thick and fast. On Monday, The Grammys brought together David Guetta, rapper Lil Wayne, douchebag-extraordinaire Chris Brown, plus Deadmau5 and The Foo Fighters for a bemusing melting pot of a performance. Today, in only slightly less-bizarre news, Diplo has released a collaborative track with U Got It Bad singer Usher.
Diplo took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm the track, Climax, calling it “seriously the best record ive been part of”. If the title didn’t tip you off, it’s no coincidence the track was released on (America’s) Valentine’s Day: “im pretty sure in 9 months there are gonna be a lot of new babies that this song is responsible for,” tweeted Diplo.
Fittingly then, the aphrodisiac-like Climax is a slow-burner. Diplo described it as “electro soul” on Twitter, before retracting that description and re-christening it “Radiohead quietstorm” – if you’re wondering what that means, you can listen to the tune below to find out. So, worth reproducing to?
