Playground Weekender cancelled

Following advice from the NSW State Emergency Services and the Police, the Playground Weekender festival due to happen this weekend has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Read the full statement from the festival here.

While Playground Weekender is due to kick off its sixth year this Friday, the excitement for the big event has been accompanied by concerns over flooding at the camping festival’s NSW location.

The SES has issued a flood watch for the Hawkesbury Rivers, warning that there’s a 70% chance of flooding developing in the Upper Nepean River, with minor flooding expected in the Nepean and Hawkesbury River valleys from Wednesday onwards. The SES warns that flooding could cause the closure of Richmond and Windsor bridges on Thursday and Friday. Representatives at the Hawkesbury Council office have been advising punters that the festival is cancelled, however we are yet to receive official word from the festival organisers.

On their Facebook, PGW stated “we are working with the State Emergency Services and the police. We are keeping a close eye on the situation and will be updating everyone accordingly.” We’ll bring more updates as they come – in the meanwhile, better pack your wellies.

Hunters packed! Can everyone please stop shuffling? The gods are mistaking it for a rain dance...

aww shit! Better keep my eyes peeled for all the new side shows that hopefully pop up.

Does anyone know if James Lavelle is already in the country with the UNKLE sounds setup?

70% chance is not that bad, why cancel? The weatherman can be wrong

Probably the safest option... That area of the Hawkesbury is notoriously bad when flooded. Plus, limited ways in and out. It would be chaos!
