Armin and Tiesto join Ibiza 2012 musical chairs

With the summer season kicking off very soon, 2012 is set to be the year of new digs for some of Ibiza’s biggest drawcards. Last December, the Swedish House Mafia announced they’ll be checking out of Mondays at Pacha in search of a “new and even more incredible adventure”, leaving long-time Pacha champion Simon Dunmore to remark on Twitter: ““A predictable move that’ll have a knock on effect on the Isle.”
After spending last season at Space with his Be party, Armin van Buuren has announced that he too is on the move, taking A State Of Trance to gargantuan club Privilege for 14 Mondays starting 25 June. The Dutch don will be joined by a rotating cast of trance and progressive talent. The musical chairs continues with Tiesto, who is leaving his post at Privilege (where he’s been since 2008) to do Mondays at Pacha. The residency begins on 28 May and takes him right through till the last days of the season.
Away from those big three, the 2012 Ibiza season is shaping up famously. The much-raved-about Ushuaia has announced its opening weekend, with the Cadenza crew back in control on Saturday 26 May and Fatboy Slim headlining Sunday 27. The sprawling Space Opening Fiesta – which adds an outdoor area to the club set-up – is also set for that Sunday, headlined by Ibiza institution Carl Cox. For the trance-obsessed, Cream Ibiza is returning to its lucrative Thursday spot at Amnesia, with line-ups to come.
