Green Tix release Playground Weekender refund news

Just over a week after the 11th-hour cancellation of Playground Weekender due to flood warnings, ticket vendor Green Tix has released a statement regarding refunds. To ticket-buyers who chose the Credit Card payment option, Green Tix will process refunds today, Friday March 9 2012. However, for other refund enquiries regarding the event, you need to contact the PGW camp directly on info@playgroundweekender.com.au. Playground Weekender is expected to release its own statement this afternoon.

As reported by Australian music site Mess + Noise today, “the festival’s ongoing viability has come under scrutiny following revelations the company behind it – Playground Weekender Pty Ltd, trading as Playground Festivals Pty Ltd for the 2012 event – had filed for insolvency as early as February 14. While promoters have since maintained that a company restructuring was behind the decision to declare insolvency, Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) documents reveal debts of more than $1.8-million.” Del Rio Resort also told Mess + Noise that the circumstances of the past few weeks would not affect its relationship with the festival.
