Now Snoop Dogg’s a house/disco DJ too

In October last year, West Coast survivor Snoop Dogg gave us Throw Your Dubs Up, the ‘dubstep mixtape’ no one was rightly expecting. Over the last couple of days, though, Snoop’s Soundcloud has been a flurry of activity as the budding DJ uploads new mix after new mix.

The one that’s capturing the most attention around the traps, though, is titled ‘Tekno Euro Mixx’ and it’s way more unexpected than his wubbs session. While ‘tekno’ isn’t exactly represented, the hour-long mix sees Snoop hand-picking records from disco and house luminaries like Crazy P, 6th Borough Project, Tensnake and Prins Thomas. It appears the guy has moved past David Guetta. As Tensnake himself succinctly put it on his Facebook when posting the mix: “crazy…”.

Some sceptics have wondered if the hip hop mogul actually did the digging for the selections, but the rough-edged mixing suggests he’s at the controls.
