Listen: Simon Caldwell on John Digweed’s Transitions
Mon 2nd Apr, 2012 in News 1370 views
As we acknowledged in the first ITM Honour Roll feature back in 2010, Simon Caldwell is regarded by many as Australia’s finest DJ. From his hallowed post under the copper ceiling at Mad Racket through to his nationwide touring, Caldwell’s reputation precedes him.
Now, thanks to a guest mix on John Digweed’s Transitions radio show over the weekend, his name has spread even wider. Caldwell used the opportunity to showcase a stack of homegrown producers including Christian Vance, Mike Callander, Deepchild, Shades Of Gray, Softwar and more. It’s a typically classy hour from the hometown hero.
“I’m very pleased to have on the show one of Sydney’s best underground DJs, Simon Caldwell,” Digweed explains at the top of the show. “I nearly had the pleasure of playing with him back in February at a gig at the Greenwood Hotel. The gig was going so well, and Simon very kindly gave up his set so I could play an hour and a half longer. So, I’ve got to thank Simon for that, it’s an amazing thing to do.
“I’m going to give you guys a chance to experience what Simon gets up to behind the decks, so expect now some excellent electronic music. For the first time on Transitions, this is Simon Caldwell…”
