Jay-Z reveals his dance tastes with curated festival

Image for Jay-Z reveals his dance tastes with curated festival

“Electronic dance music feels like a revolution, it feels like the kids’ music,” Jay-Z enthused to Billboard this month. “I just wanna be a part of it.” Ever the savvy businessman, the hip hop mogul partnered his Roc Nation empire with ‘EDM’ management company Three Six Zero Group in 2010, leading to the Calvin Harris and Rihanna mega-hit We Found Love, and now he’s dipping his toe further into the “kids’ music”.

This September, Jay-Z is curating the Made In America festival in Philadelphia, and he’s made sure to include a few dance acts who, while not technically made in America, are a pretty big deal there. So who are the Jay-Z’s “revolutionary” favourites? Commercial juggernauts Afrojack and Calvin Harris will be there – a Dutchman and a Scot respectively – alongside, you guessed it, all-American rabble-rouser Skrillex. Swedish outfit Miike Snow, a rejuvenated D’Angelo, hip hop upstarts Odd Future and of course Jay-Z himself will all perform too. The Made In America festival happens on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September.

Made in America festival:

Pearl Jam
Miike Snow
Calvin Harris
Odd Future
Maybach Music (feat. Rick Ross, Wale, Meek Mill)
Passion Pit
Dirty Projectors
Janelle Monae
Prince Royce
Rita Ora
Savoy (DJ set)
The Knocks
more to be announced…

What an amazing line up:- dance music kings Skrillex, Calvin Harris and Afrojack, alongside rock festival favourite Pearl jam and hip hop god Jay-z to finish proceedings. BDO, please take note.

Could do with a little more Cali-punk for good measure.
