Make Google-Moog masterpieces and win!

On this day 78 years ago, electronic pioneer Robert Moog was born, and Google is marking the occasion in true Google style. For one day only, the search engine comes equipped with an interactive Moog synthesiser for you to play with. You can play the synth by htting the keys with your mouse or using the numbers on your keyboard, and there are plenty of knobs to fiddle with in pursuit of your perfect sound.
Even better, you can record your experiments and share them with fellow Google-Moog obsessives. For a bit of fun, inthemix wants to find the ITMer who can best channel Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder using the Moog-le. Make sweet synthy music, then post the share link under this story or on the inthemix Facebook page. There’ll be inthemix prize packs – and, more importantly, bragging rights – for the most creative compositions.
Who knows, maybe with your proven skills, you’ll be on your way to Moogfest, the annual festival in Asheville, North Carolina, dedicated to the vision of Robert Moog. Stretching across three days in the place that Moog made his home for 30 years, the festival always draws a stellar line-up. In 2011, Moog lovers like Moby, Brian Eno, Amon Tobin, Battles and M83 rolled up to play. It’s never too late to master the Moog.
