The New Breed: 20 local producers on our radar

As a passport carrying citizen of the internet I too have found myself wrapped up, consumed and in pursuit of all things new. It’s been no accident that I’ve squeezed myself into a position where I’m now hearing new music for a living. Starting with my blog Hyperbole and leading me to the inthemix editor’s desk and now as the music director of triple j Unearthed I’ve been surrounded by emerging acts. Of course there are bragging rights to having your ears on something first but it’s even more rewarding to get in on their journeys and follow from humble beginnings to bigger things. And then you can brag some more.

Australia is rotten with talented young electronic producers right now. It seems like my affections are constantly being pulled by aspiring acts whose output is not only remarkable for their burgeoning presence on the scene but also just plain remarkable for sounding so awesome. This list is just the tip of that talent iceberg and a good look at some artists you need to hear right now.

I think it's more about the new breed as the title suggests. Tornado Wallace isn't really new, neither is Mic Newman or Jamie Stevens. These guys are great and already made a name overseas. This is more about the new kids from what I've gathered anyway.
