Meet Daft Punk in toy form

While they haven’t been releasing their long-awaited fourth album (which by the way was said to be “coming maybe June” but is still sans release date), Daft Punk have been busy with another sort of collaboration: making a toy.
The iconic Frenchmen have collaborated with Bearbrick, the Japanese collectable toy bear makers, for their very own ‘Daft Punk 1000% Be@rbricks’. The 70cm tall toys (it’s a set of two, naturally) will be released on June 23 for purchase – though Bearbrick is produced in limited numbers and are said to be very difficult to obtain outside of Japan, so expect to pay through the nose if you want a set.
Previous Bearbrick collaborators include fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld and Vivienne Westwood, and the brand also boasts hook-ups with Quentin Tarantino’s film Kill Bill, which included producing a ‘Murder Bride’ Bearbrick. Of course, this isn’t the first time Daft Punk have gone Bearbrick – a silver, very-futuristic looking pair of Bearbrick’s were made in the duo’s image after the release of Tron a few years ago.
Heads up: if you’re really keen on the new Daft Punk toys, you can pre-purchase a set for a mere USD$1,149 including postage. Wow.
