Getting impatient in the lead-up to the release of Daft Punk’s long-awaited fourth album? Well, here’s something: NME have reported that Thomas Bangalter, one half of the iconic duo, has scored a new short film titled First Point.
The film premiered this week at Art Basel, an art fair in Switzerland. Curiously, it stars none other than Hollywood trainwreck-in-chief Lindsay Lohan, who surfs and reclines artfully on the sand while Bangalter’s moody score plays in the background. Though with the film only clocking up five minutes in length, it’s definitely no Tron.
It’s been an anticipation-filled few months for Daft Punk fans: after Chic’s Nile Rogers told us in February that he’d been working with the pair on new material, songwriter Paul Williams revealed that the as-yet untitled fourth album would be “coming maybe June”. Then last month at the Internation Music Summit, ITM was front and centre when legendary Italian producer Giorgio Moroder let slip he’d been in the studio with the Frenchmen.
We’re still crossing our fingers that the album will rear its head sometime soon, but in the meanwhile we’ll take whatever we can get – you can watch the First Point trailer below.
