It’s been nigh on five years since homegrown star Muscles released his debut album Guns Babes and Lemonade. The album hit all the right notes: earning itself an impressive 8.3/10 from the notoriously hard-to-please Pitchfork, hitting the #3 spot in the Australian charts and giving us the massive singles Ice Cream and Sweaty.
But it’s just about time for Melbourne’s one-man show to come back with album number two, and after a long wait Manhood arrives tomorrow through Modular. But if you’re keen to get a head start on the listening, Rdio is streaming the whole of Manhood right now – you can listen below. So what should you expect? “The new album Manhood is really sexy; I feel It’s going to surprise people,” Muscles told us last month. “Like my debut, it’s party from start to finish, but can be a challenging at times. Repeated listenings are required.
“It begins as a pop album and very schizophrenically morphs into a club album, a little dark and more sophisticated, an indication of where I want to sound in the future.” Check it out now and head back tomorrow to pick up an exclusive free download of Airwolf’s remix of the Manhood track Ready For a Fight.
