Z-Trip brings new A/V show to Australia

Master turntablist Z-Trip is a resounding favourite around these parts, and in August he returns to Australia with an all-new A/V show. Z-Trip will play four dates, including the national final of the Red Bull Thre3style DJ competition in Sydney (not a bad guy to look up to).

As well as keeping up his solo grind, Z-Trip has spent 2012 touring with LL Cool J as his on-stage DJ. This year he also hooked up with U.S. bass-bender Datsik on the track Double Trouble, while keeping up an industrious tour schedule. We don’t know much yet about the new A/V show, but it’s sure to be party-ready.

The man recently took to Facebook to get serious about where DJing is going. “For me, real DJ skills are becoming harder & harder to spot as the culture expands,” he wrote. “Expansion is great, but the ART of DJing is getting lost, IMO. Odd to see DJs w/ their hands in the air for 95% of a set. Hands in the air = hands not on the gear. A crowd should have their hands up, not the DJ! I just wanna see more. More skills, different music selection, more risks, more curve-balls, less playing it safe, less predictability, less formula.”

Z-Trip tour dates:

Thursday 9 August – Melbourne, Prince Bandroom
Friday 10 August – Sydney, The Metro (Red Bull Thre3style National Final)
Saturday 11 August – Perth, The Bakery
Tuesday 14 August – Brisbane, The Hi-Fi (Public Holiday Eve)
