Head here for our in-depth look at the group’s legacy.
Dance music’s biggest supergroup, the Swedish House Mafia, have confirmed that they are officially splitting up.
After four years of touring, recording and riding the EDM wave to become one of the biggest groups in the world, DJs and producers Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso have released a statement that the tour they are about to go on will be their last. “We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey,” they wrote on their website today. “We came, we raved, we loved”.
The trio will play their final show in the UK at Milton Keynes Bowl, before finishing their residency at Ushuaia in Ibiza, and their last show in their home country of Sweden on November 24. One additional date that will be the last ever Swedish House Mafia gig will be announced in August.
The Swedes’ success has been unprecedented in dance music, making history when they became the first dance act to headline both Milton Keynes and Madison Square Garden, and selling out the latter in just 9 minutes.
Swedish House Mafia were last in Australia for Future Music Festival in March, where they played at an epic house party for a very lucky inthemix member. Check out the video of the mayhem that they caused.
RIP SHM.
