Above & Beyond get in the mix for Cream Ibiza

Image for Above & Beyond get in the mix for Cream Ibiza

If your tastes run to trance, progressive and big room house, any trip to Ibiza should include a long Thursday night at Amnesia for Cream. In 2012, the club’s roster includes regulars like Paul van Dyk, Sander van Doorn, Eddie Halliwell, Calvin Harris and Laidback Luke, while trance kings Above & Beyond are back for an exclusive six dates across the season.

It makes sense, then, that Jono, Paavo and Tony have been tasked with helming Cream Ibiza, the official mix compilation of the season. Both discs are a snapshot of the weapons the trio is filling its club sets with, with production wunderkind Arty strongly represented. Fans will be familiar with many of the tracks here, but there’s a suite of new remixes to keep things current. What do you make of the tracklists?

Disappointing track list. Filled with stuff they have been caning for well over a year [i.e. Arty %u2013 Kate, Ferry Corsten %u2013 Punk (Arty Rock-n-Rolla Mix), Above & Beyond feat. Richard Bedford %u2013 Thing Called Love (Above & Beyond 2011 Club Mix)]. They have ONLY included Anjunabeats (A&B's label) artists and flogging their own music. Don't see why they couldn't have included other artists seen it is a compilation for "Cream Ibiza"

Having said that though, I think there are some good looking exclusives, mash-ups and new remixes of their album tracks in there. Call me jaded, but I still would not waste my money on this.

I wouldn't have thought much of that tracklist either, but it's all in the programming. Has an excellent flow, a lot of Anjunabeats stuff yeah but that ends up being a positive too. The label is still killing it, no question.
