Three years after his last Australian tour for Future Music Festival, scene stalwart Paul Oakenfold is coming back. The headline tour is again the work of Future Entertainment and sees the DJ playing sizeable shows around the country. The tour begins at HQ in Adelaide, before continuing on to the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and Festival Hall in Melbourne, before winding up at Villa in Perth. There’s also a spot reserved for a secret show.
The Australian tour is under the ‘Four Seasons’ concept, which sees Oakenfold marking winter, spring, summer and autumn with new compilations. The DJ still leads his Perfecto Records empire and its Perfecto Fluoro offshoot from his adopted second home of the U.S., while also forging an industrious alliance with Armada.
2012 has been a big year for Oakey in the studio as well, so expect him to be in firing form once the tour rolls around. From all reports, the man has found his sweet spot again, releasing weapons like Glow In The Dark, Tokyo, Pop Star and Full Moon Party. “I came out of DJing when I moved to America to focus on writing for films and games,” he told the Liverpool Daily Post back in March. “Now I have put that on hold to do more travelling and DJing and I am really enjoying it. I am focused on DJing and making music this year. There is nothing like that feeling you get when you are directly in front of people and you are playing music and connecting through music. You really feel it and so do they.”
