Launch Music Festival announces inaugural lineup

If there’s one thing the faceplant that was last year’s Heatwave festival, the downsizing of the long-running Big Day Out and the recent crop of failed festivals (including Bam!, Blueprint, Ultra Beats 3000, Mission to Launch, Lost Weekend and Safari Beats) has taught us, it’s that successfully running a festival in today’s economic climate is no mean feat.
But undeterred by the increasingly competitive festival market, newcomer Launch Music Festival has announced that it will be holding its inaugural event this October. The festival’s choice of venue is the Showgrounds of Toowoomba, a town located about 120 kilometres from Brisbane that’s best known as the home of Gospel music festival Easterfest.
Launch has announced The Potbelleez as the headliners for the festival’s debut outing. Electro-house duo Bombs Away are also set to appear, backed up by a less-prolific assembly of local acts. Early bird tickets will set you back $88, while second release tickets are going for $99 and VIP tickets are $165 a pop. Head to the Launch website for more info.
