When Parisian gun Maelstrom delivered the EP Generation earlier this year, his status as one of France’s most promising producers was secured. So it’s good news that to celebrate the new EP, Maelstrom’s headed back our way for a three-date winter club tour.
The producer – real name Joan Mael Peneau – has announced that he’ll be hitting Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne at the end of the month. Last here in 2011 for a tour with Boys Noize Records, Maelstrom’s accustomed to rubbing shoulders with the elite of European electronic music, and true to that his latest release came via Gesaffelstein’s label Zone-Music. What’s more, Peneau’s also won himself plaudits from heavyweights like Claude Vonstroke and Laurent Garnier and comparisons to fellow Frenchman Brodinski.
With the Generation EP fusing Detroit-style techno, dark basslines and club-suited electro, the incoming tour promises to be something very special indeed.
Maelstrom tour dates:
Sunday July 22 – Coniston Lane, Brisbane
Friday July 27 – Motorik, Club 77, Sydney
Saturday July 28 – Survivor!, The Bottom End, Melbourne
