Ultra Music Festival Poland cancelled at last-minute

Things were looking good for Ultra Music Festival’s first outing to Poland. The epic Miami-based festival announced it was expanding internationally for the first time ever earlier this year, bringing the winning Ultra formula to Europe for the Northern Summer. With big names like Tiesto, Avicii and Above & Beyond sitting alongside Richie Hawtin, John Digweed and Adam Beyer, Ultra’s Warsaw edition had both the bankable and less-commercial boxes very nicely ticked.

But just a week out from the inaugural Polish event kicking off, Ultra has announced that the festival has been cancelled. “It is with our deepest regret that UMF must notify our loyal fans that UMF Poland, scheduled for July 13th and 14th in Warsaw, has been cancelled,” came UMF’s official statement, released last night.

The reason behind the cancellation seems to be down to the Polish promoters not fulfilling their end of the deal. “The local promoter, SRO Festivals (SRO), and some of its affiliates, confirmed that they would be unable to meet and perform certain vital contractual obligations essential to successfully producing the UMF Poland event. UMF has since terminated our relationship with SRO as a result of these unforeseen and ill-fated developments,” the statement explained. “Delivering UMF’s signature production and ultimate fan experience are components upon which UMF is never prepared to compromise.”

Of course, it’s sad news for the hordes planning to hit Warsaw next week. There’s been no official word on how many had bought tickets to the event – but given the Warsaw venue is twice the size of UMF Miami’s venue Bayfront Park, it’s a safe bet there’s a lot of very disappointed Europeans right now.

I'm sure it has never compromised on this... just look back to when UMF started and where it is at now. Definitely no compromise there ;) It's been totally compromised and now it's just Stereosonic on a bigger level.

Just like fans, having had artists on the lineup we were left high and dry with our artists and many having travel already sorted in advance for next week. So what do we do?

well we decided to run our own event for everyone who is still going to be in Warsaw next week
