Tue 17th Jul, 2012 in News 2176 views
2011 was a significant year for the inthemix Awards, with the well-established inthemix50 transformed into a broader event celebrating the biggest and brightest achievements in Australian dance music. After that shake-up, there are even bigger plans afoot in 2012 to celebrate the 10th year of the inthemix institution. This year sees new categories and the announcement of a sit-down dinner in Sydney to celebrate a decade of the Australian dance music industry awards.
So, what else is new with the inthemix Awards? This year, half of the categories will be voted by the public, with the other half chosen by a large panel of industry leaders. The industry-voted awards include Breakthrough Artist, Best Track/Remix, Best Live Act and more. The public votes will decide the National Top 50 DJs, Best Boutique Festival, Best Major Festival, Best Club Night and Best International. If you’re a DJ, club promoter of festival promoter, the first stage is open right now for you to check, confirm or add your details to the database. More details of the sit-down 10 year anniversary dinner will be announced in the coming weeks.
2011 saw Queensland club mainstays The Stafford Brothers ascend to the #1 spot in the Top 50 DJs poll, with the top five rounded out by TyDi, The Aston Shuffle, MaRLo and Andy Murphy. In the favourite festivals category, Stereosonic, Defqon.1, Foreshore and Future Music Festival scooped the pool, while the new nod of Favourite Live Act went to the Perth crew turned international juggernaut Pendulum. We’re already itching to see how 2012 plays out! Head to the newly-launched inthemix awards website to check your details.
