Entering its ninth year now, Peats Ridge has established itself as one of Australia’s leading New Year’s festivals, producing diverse line-ups while remaining true to its ethos of environmental sustainability. Heading up the festivities at Glenworth Valley this New Year’s Eve will be the ‘most requested band in the festival’s history’ John Butler Trio and celebrated soul group Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, and there’s plenty on offer for dance and electronic fans as well.

Hip hop and broken beats heads will be happy to see the pairing of Krafty Kuts and A-Skillz, who’ll be doing their thing across multiple decks. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the two UK collaborators back-to-back on a festival line-up, so it’s an overdue return. Also leading the dancing will be Jack Savidge of Friendly Fires with a DJ set, Kiwi dub/soul collective The Black Seeds, hip hop crew The Herd, electronic adventurers straight outta Ballarat Gold Fields and many more. Music is just one part of the Peats Ridge mix, with the promise of “art installations, kooky themed venues, multimedia, theatre, dance, cabaret, comedy, circus, and much, much more, all winding along the riverbank and dotted through a unique event site”.

That unique event site is Glenworth Valley, one of Australia’s most picturesque festival locations, where you can settle in and camp by the river. Peats Ridge Festival stretches from 29 December 2012 to 1 January 2013. General tickets go on sale 20 August at, with early bird camping passes allowing access to camping on 28 December.
