We’ve known for a while now that Deadmau5 is gearing up to release a new album in 2012. But while there’d previously been no official word on when exactly we’d get the new LP, a rep from Ultra Records has now revealed that we can expect Joel Zimmerman’s latest in September. In fact, you can pre-order it now on iTunes.
The revelation came backstage at Hard Summer, the “pretty serious EDM orgy” (in the words of Dillon Francis) that went down in Los Angeles over the weekend. “We’ve got a Deadmau5 album coming out in September, which is definitely going to be a big one,” a rep from Ultra told Billboard. “ Professional Griefers, which is his single with Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance is already playing at top rock stations.”
So what do we know about the album at this stage? Well, the plan has been that Deadmau5 will release a series of EPs throughout the year, which would then be rolled into the full length album. So far, we’ve got The Veldt EP, as well as tracks Professional Griefers and most recently, There Might Be Coffee. Though earlier this week, Zimmerman announced he was taking some time off – but assured that wouldn’t mess with any upcoming releases. “So heres whats happening”, his blog post began. “im going to unplug for a wee bit. which doesnt mean im cancelling any upcoming shows or anything…obviously the gears will still be moving, ill still be writing, and the releases will still come out (heads up for something crazy real soon like) and yeah.”
The Ultra Records rep also disclosed a bit about the upcoming album from the Big Day Out-bound Bloody Beetroots. “Bloody Beetroots have an album coming sometime next year. I can’t disclose any of the featured artists yet but I feel like this album really showcases him as a true musician and that he is able to cross into so many different genres. The featured artists on this will blow your mind.”
