Rick Wade & Kyle Hall bringing Detroit down under

Two of the leading names flying the flag for Detroit, esteemed vet Rick Wade and man-of-the-moment Kyle Hall, will be here in Spring. Melbourne’s house and techno enthusiasts will already know all about Hall’s show on Friday 28 September for Stable’s Capacity 575 event. Now a Sydney date has been announced for the Motor City prodigy, presented by Astral People, the crew that has already brought us Blawan & Pariah, Lapalux, Dark Sky and KNXWLEDGE to name a few this year. Astral People will be taking over Civic Underground on Sunday 30 September (it’s a long weekend), with Hall joined by Rick Wade.
With a raw, physical approach to DJing, Kyle Hall has turned a lot of heads in his relatively short time at the mixer. The producer’s Wild Oats label has been industrious in the last year, and the European festival circuit is always calling. Closer to home, he’s helping guide the next wave of Detroit producers in the Youthville program. “There are no true compartmentalised ‘scenes’ in Detroit music,” he recently told Soundwall.it. “Everyone crosses paths, mixes and shares ideas with each other pretty evenly. The city is very small and therefore influences come from every which way, and I feel you can hear that through all Detroit musicians.” Meanwhile, Wade has been hard at it since the ‘90s, when he brought together his Chicago house influences with the Motor City movement spearheaded by the likes of Jeff Mills and Mike Banks. His deep, immersive record bag warmed our dancefloors back in 2010, and it’s sure to do so again.
