Having settled comfortably into the #3 spot on the recent Forbes Electronic Cash Kings tally, the Swedish House Mafia has a few more jobs to get done before the final farewell. On the DJing front, the trio has some dates left at Ibiza’s decadent Ushuaïa Beach Hotel and a spot on the line-up for the iHeart Radio Festival in Las Vegas, which also features dance stars Calvin Harris and Deadmau5. Then it’s on to the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, for a home crowd send-off this September. The first stadium show is entirely sold out, with the second swiftly heading the same way.

Over the weekend, though, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello handed over the finished version of their new single Don’t You Worry Child for its first play on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show. With John Martin on vocals, it’s as bombastic as you’d expect from the Mafiosos, and is likely set to be the ‘farewell single’. The Friends Arena dates won’t be the trio’s last hurrah, though, with a final round of ‘last-ever’ shows still to be announced.

“We just decided that we reached a point where we don’t know what the next move would be,” Angello told Rolling Stone this month. “We always like the challenge. And we don’t like to repeat ourselves. We just felt like, ‘let’s stop touring’.”

The focus for all three members will now be on their individual labels and production projects. Angello has Size Matters to steer, with recruits like AN21, Max Vangeli and Third Party. Axwell has Axtone Records and a string of DJ commitments in coming months, while Ingrosso leads Refune Records with protégé Alesso on the up and up. Have a listen to Don’t You Worry Child below.

such an average generic release for their last song... seems like they've hit the bottom and can't get any lower - mission accomplished.

I honestly could not give a fuck what people thing about shm and them being sellouts, their show at madison square garden is still the most inspiring thing I've ever heard. Made me want to produce my own music. They will always be amazing in my eyes.

Average same-old-sound send-off tune. Here's hoping their splitting ways will actually result in them exploring something more musically adventurous like their proteges
