House icon Todd Terry announces tour

In early September, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne will get a rare date with one of house music’s leading lights. New York club king Todd Terry is heading our way to warm some dancefloors over one busy Spring weekend. 2012 has already been a whirlwind for the DJ, travelling from his hometown to Moscow, Miami, London, Paris and many, many stops in between. For more than ten years, he’s been presiding over the In House Records label, releasing his own music alongside 12-inches from other house trailblazers. It all channels back into his DJ sets, which tie together past and present with trademark finesse.
If you’re not up on Todd Terry’s CV, it runs deep. With monikers like the Todd Terry Project, C.L.S., House Of Gypsies and Royal House, he’s been industrious for decades. In 1995, his remix for Everything But The Girl’s Missing broke through worldwide, and the marquee remixing jobs came thick and fast. “At the time remixers were not know for the production aspect; it didn’t become clear until later how much production went into a remix,” he recently told Soundwall.it.
Terry also had a hand in the Jungle Brothers classic I’ll House You, which the man describes as “a record that can’t be beat”. Bringing the worlds of hip hop and house together was one of his regularly-stated missions. Then there’s the Best Remixer nomination at the Grammy Awards he picked up. For New York’s house heads in the late ‘80s, Terry was known as ‘Todd the God’, and we’ll get to hear why.
Todd Terry tour dates:
